As a public administrator and mediator,
I have learned that most people would rather not have their
lives consumed by conflict. However, sometimes conflicts or
disputes escalate and demand full attention, distracting people
from more productive pursuits.
Although most people know disputes
can be settled with honest dialogue, they often are uncertain
how to initiate or maintain that dialogue. They default to
confrontational strategies. As a result, it is helpful to
involve a neutral third party before conflicts develop, or to
calm a tempest that already has developed. By refocusing
energies on projects, programs, issues and solutions, conflicts
can be resolved and favorable outcomes obtained.
To some degree, conflict is an
ever-present human condition. Peace is not found in the absence
of conflict. Rather, it is found in how well we deal with
conflict.
Together with mediation, negotiation
and other conflict resolution strategies, South Valley Solutions
provides professional and experienced advice that focuses on
land-use and environmental issues, government and community
relations, strategic planning and group facilitation to
individuals, businesses, non-profit organizations and government
agencies.
My more than 30 years of experience and
training in urban planning, code enforcement, public
administration, international government consultation,
negotiation, dispute resolution and mediation provide the basis
for my offer of South Valley Solutions’ assistance.
