Essential to any business’s
success is a clear understanding of its purpose and a strategic plan
to achieve it. As a manager of non-profits and as a consultant, I
have learned that achieving community understanding and support is
also critical for a non-profit to be successful.
Like businesses and government agencies, non-profit organizations
face the challenge of utilizing sound business decisions and
operations to further philanthropic or public purposes. Often a
neutral, trained, third party can facilitate meaningful discussion
and bring involved players to an agreed upon purpose and goals.
Effective communication is a skill, that once learned, can be
essential to successfully working as a team-- whether it’s a team of
staff, of the organization and community members, of a business and
its partners, or of management and employees.
